Swans break membership record

The Swans are now on track to reach its goal of 40,000 members for the 2014 season.

Swans CEO Andrew Ireland (pictured) said it’s a significant milestone for the Club.

“This is an outstanding achievement to have 36,370 members on board ahead of our first home match of the season,” Ireland said.

“With so many blockbuster matches in Sydney this year – starting with Collingwood on Saturday night – we encourage all Swans fans to sign up as members and help us reach our goal of 40,000 members in 2014.

“This is the second consecutive year the Swans have broken the membership record after surpassing the 36,000 mark last year.

“We’re over 4500 members ahead of this time last year so it’s really encouraging to see so many members are on board and are excited about the season ahead.”

The Swans have added 6723 new members this season, many through the club’s successful recruitment program, Nominate Your Mate.

The Nominate Your Mate program has seen 956 members nominate a friend or family member to join as a member this season, which is also a club record.

The Swans’ first home match of the season is this Saturday against Collingwood at ANZ Stadium making the match the perfect opportunity for members to show their support.

“While it was disappointing to lose the opening round match of the season, the team will be looking to bounce back this week against Collingwood,” Ireland said.

“We’ll need our members with us every step of the way this year, so I encourage all of our members to come out to ANZ Stadium this Saturday night to cheer on the team against one of our biggest rivals, Collingwood.

“For those who haven’t signed up yet, now is the perfect time to join just before the first home match of the season.”
