Local AFL Draft Snapshot

The most talented young players in the country will know their footballing fate by the end of the night, with an elite handful gathering on the Gold Coast for the gala at the glitter strip’s Convention Centre, alongside a contingent of media, family, and officials.

The Sunshine State has certainly lived up to its reputation, turning on a perfect day for draft hopefuls, who’s be waiting anxiously, eager to hear their name called.

We previewed the top local draft prospects a couple of weeks back, but no matter the result tonight, there’s already been backslaps all round between NSW and ACT talent development staff, with Jake Barrett confirmed to be taken by GWS, Lloyd Perris already on the Swans’ list, and a host more NSW and ACT juniors upgraded to senior playing lists last month.

There’s a lot of local interest in individuals, but it’d be remiss of us not to mention the Harbour City’s two AFL clubs, with the Swans and GIANTS set to figure prominently.

Here are the confirmed draft pick positions of both clubs:

GWS GIANTS

Pick numbers: 1,2 14,29, 48, 72, 73, 81, 91, 95, 97

Sydney Swans

Pick numbers: 15, 32, 35, 44, 53, 69, 80, 90, 93
