Baulkham Hills celebrate Multicultural Round

With six players from multicultural backgrounds in their Division 1 side, Baulkham Hills’ multicultural players wore orange arm bands to represent ‘harmony’ on the weekend and were acknowledged in the pre game address by the coach.

Coach John Hupfeld told the group: “This is the AFL Multicultural round, in which we recognize and embrace all players from multicultural backgrounds. Or great game of AFL, is the ‘game or everyone’, and welcomes players from all cultures to come together to play our game.”

Along with celebrating Multicultural Round, the game was also a milestone for Sumer Roy who played his 50th game for the club.

Baulkham Hills has a Multicultural Scholarship program, which includes Indigenous players, where assistance is provided for those players to participate who otherwise would not be able to.

Club members donate used football boots and these are sent off to remote Indigenous communities in need.

Last season their President put five boxes together of Baulkham Hills apparel and used sporting equipment which was distributed to Indigenous communities,
