The nominees received a free family pass to the game and completed a lap of honour to acknowledge the role women play in our community.

Joint winners Lael Kassem and Rebecca Goddard were presented with a plaque and roses from Roses Only by GIANTS Number 1 Ticket holder and Sunrise co-host Melissa Doyle.

Doyle said she was proud to take part in an award that honours the role women play in the football community in western Sydney.

“I am very excited to be down here today to honour these fantastic women who give up so much of their time to community football. My son plays and our club would simply not exist without the tireless work that so many volunteers put in,” she said at Skoda Stadium on Sunday.

Lael Kassem co-founded the Auburn Tigers Women’s team, the first predominantly Muslim women’s AFL team in the country, which has such an inspiring story.

Rebecca Goddard has worked tirelessly in the ACT as a player, coach administrator and founder of the Gungahlin Women’s Football Team.

Both women also won a weekend on the Gold Coast for two to see the GIANTS take on the Gold Coast SUNS at Metricon Stadium on June 15.

The GIANTS honour women who play such an important role in community football by volunteering their time as coaches, umpires, presidents, committee members, NAB AFL Auskick co-ordinators, trainers and so many more roles.
