Lane Cove Cats kicking new goals

By Daniel McBride.

The AFL has erected a brand new set of goalposts down at the home of the Lane Cove Cats.

The Number 4 oval at Blackman Park had the new posts installed last week ahead of the 2013 season.

The Lane Cove Cats are a new club that have extended from a partnership with St Michaels at Lane Cove.

The Cats formed as a result of strong growth at Willoughby who look likely to set the record for Club Auskick participants with 160 in 2013.

The lane Cove Cats are helping to make football more accessible to the people of Lane Cove.

Club Secretary Brian Gillard said.

“We are all absolutely thrilled about the new posts. The boys played on Sunday there and the ground [and posts], were perfect”.

“It’s great that the AFL has helped out a new club”.

The Lane Cove Cats run Auskick programs for their young players and have a team in the Under-9s Greater Sydney Juniors competition as well as participating in AFL 9s.

The posts are great for the Lane Cove Cats Junior Football Club and their installation is yet another step in the right direction for junior footy in NSW.
