Representative Football at Mahoney Park
Over the June Long Weekend Mahoney Park played host to under-11 and under-12 representative football.
Saturday morning began early with the traditional Sydney City Region under-10 exhibition match to clear the dew off the ground.
This was followed by the under-11’s representative gala day. The day brought teams together from Sydney City, North West, North Shore, West and Illawarra Regions for a fantastic day of free flowing football.
Each team played four matches in the preliminary rounds, with the West region going through to the final undefeated. They played against the City Region who had only lost the one game to the West. A tough game ensued with the City being the eventual winners by two points.
On Sunday the under-12’s were at it, with teams from City, North West, North Shore, West, Illawarra and South competing.
Again it was a fantastic day of footy with West eventually overcoming South in a tough final.
Both days saw some very spirited football so well done to all players, coaches and managers involved.
A mention also to the umpires for a great job on the field, as well as off it in keeping the hot food up to everyone running the canteen.
