The GIANTS have added NSW local Teagan Germech to their list as a replacement player for the 2023 NAB AFLW season.

An opening on the GIANTS’ list became available following the unfortunate news that Tait Mackrill had been ruled out for the entirety of the upcoming season due to a stress fracture in her left knee.

Mackrill missed the majority of season seven with a stress fracture in her foot.

Germech relocated from the Central Tablelands to Canberra in 2021 in a bid to pursue her AFLW ambitions.

Representing the Belconnen Magpies in the ACT and most recently the East Coast Eagles in Sydney, the former defender turned inside-midfielder has finally earnt herself a spot on an AFLW list.

Playing in the GIANTS ‘G’ isn’t new territory for the recruit, with the 20-year-old starting her football journey playing for the Bathurst GIANTS, as well as being a member of the GIANTS’ first-ever female Academy intake.

Germech spent the 2022 season as a train-on player with the Sydney Swans and was most recently a member of the GIANTS’ Super Series team.

The GIANTS are in week three of pre-season and are expecting to commence the 2023 NAB AFL Women’s season in the first weekend in September.
