OPEN: Club Development Grant Round 2

AFL NSW/ACT is excited to announce that Round 2 of the 2023 AFL NSW/ACT Club Development Grant Program (CDG) will be opening in early May!

The CDG is a one-off funding opportunity in 2023 whereby clubs can apply for financial support in order to implement club development based projects across key focus areas.

In Round 2 of the program, clubs can submit a funding application for a new project that if successful must be implemented by the club between July 2023 and April 2024.

It is critical that your club reads the entire application guide before applying to ensure your project is eligible for consideration and to help maximise your chances of being successful.

The guide includes frequently asked questions and important information such as: 

• – What the key focus areas of the program are, noting that for a project to be considered by the assessment panel it must address one of the key focus areas  
• – What types of projects are ineligible – it is important that you review this information prior to submitting your application 
• – Examples of the types projects that may be eligible under the program 
• – Amount of funding available to your club.

Applications for the second round of the program open on Monday, 8 May and close on Wednesday, 31 May so your club has a couple of weeks to think about what type of project you may like to implement before applications open.

Please note, clubs that successfully received funding in the first round of the CDG Program are ineligible to apply for funding in this second round.

Hawkability: a successful Round 1 applicant

The Cardiff Hawks received funding from the first round of the Club Development Grant to help with its Hawkability program. Pete Risby of the club said:

“The Cardiff Hawks Hawkability program is aimed at making football accessible for kids with disability within the Hunter Region.

“The NSW/ACT AFL Club Development Grant will allow the club to do things such as provide the participants with new equipment and will also allow the club to consider any specialist equipment that might be required to accommodate kids with specific physical needs.

“Our Hawkability Program Manager, Rowan Bilkey, is excited to offer the Hawkability program in Season 2023 especially with this support from the AFL.”

Newtown Swans Junior Australian Football Club: Successful Round 1 applicant

The Newtown Swans will use its grant money to appoint a coaching mentor to assist the growth of its coaches.

This mentor will deliver coaching templates for each age group aimed at building skills appropriate for these age groups, professional training through intensive coaching clinics and be available to support coaches on game day when required.
