Sydney Swans youngster Gary Rohan’s long stint on the sidelines could come to an end this weekend.

Rohan is back on the training track following an arthroscope on his knee, and will face a fitness test before being given the green light to return to the field.

“This is his second week of training now after a long lay off with his knee injury. He has been doing a fair bit of fitness work as well,” Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron told SwansTV.

“We’ll just be making a judgement on how his body is coping with training and to determine whether he is ready to resume playing this weekend.”

It has been over a month since Rohan underwent an arthroscope to remove a flap of cartilage in his right knee.

Defensive duo Ted Richards and Alex Johnson will both face fitness tests and could return to the Swans line-up for Saturday night’s clash with the Adelaide Crows at AAMI Stadium.

Richards was a late withdrawal from the match against the Pies with ankle soreness but has improved with the weekend’s rest.

Cameron revealed that Alex Johnson, who missed the match against Collingwood with a calf strain, is up and running and will be vying to take his place for the Swans on Saturday night.

Midfielder Kieren Jack, who received positive news about the extent of his ankle injury yesterday, is another player listed for a test this week.

“He is looking pretty good, he is off the crutches and is walking around pain free. We’ll get him running and if he can train, he is a good chance of playing this week,” Cameron said.
