State of Origin: NSW v ACT

New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory will play off in a state of origin grand final tomorrow at the AFL Women’s National Championships in Adelaide.

NSW head into the side as the form team with a perfect win-loss record during the week-long event. They also have the momentum heading into the game following their win over the ACT in the first match of the championships.

State pride will not only be on the line but so too will be a place in division one at next year’s carnival. Elevation to division one would be a huge achievement and an opportunity for either NSW or ACT to test themselves against the more traditional AFL states like Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

The Women’s National Championships is growing in momentum with this year’s event becoming the first truly national competition following Tasmania’s inclusion.

The grand final between NSW and the ACT will be played at Gliderol Stadium, Glenelg on Saturday, June 11, at 9.30am.

Regardless of the result, it is a fantastic achievement for both state sides and a true reflection of the hard work of all players, coaches and those working behind the scenes.

With Talented Player Pathways and Youth Girls competitions established in each state, the number of talented females coming through the system continues to rise.

Ahead of the match, AFLNSWACT.com.au takes a look at the players to watch from either side and who has the potential to bring the coveted trophy back home.
