Last chance to impress for U16 hopefuls

The QBE Sydney Swans and PM Capital GWS GIANTS Academies’ U16 contingents will face off again at midday on Sunday May 24 at Lakeside Oval in Moore Park.

The clash will be the final chance for players to put themselves up in lights before the NSW/ACT RAMS National Championships squad is selected.

The side will be announced at 5pm on Wednesday May 27, before entering camp the following weekend.

Last year’s NSW/ACT RAMS U16 outfit was victorious in Division 2 at the National Championships, so expectations will be high for the 2015 campaign.

The Gold Coast will play host to the best young U16 players in the country in six weeks time, with competition beginning at Metricon Stadium on July 4.

The RAMS will kick of their title defence on July 6 at Broadbeach against NT, before pool games against Queensland at Southport, and Tasmania at Metricon Stadium.

The talent pool available between both local academies is vast, and competition for spots will be fierce, with the weekend’s match-up arguably the most important of the series thus far.
