SA defeat NSW/ACT in Grand Final

South Australia went through the four games throughout the week in Pool B unbeaten finishing up defeating NSW/ACT 9.4 (58) to 3.2 (20) in the grand final.

After kicking the opening four goals of the match inside 13 minutes, South Australia had put its stamp on the contest and led by as much as 46 points before going on to win by 38.

The Croweaters beat the Thunder Devils by 70 points on Monday, downed NSW/ACT by 77 points on Tuesday and then defeated the Woomeras by 26 points on Thursday to be unbeaten heading into the Pool B grand final, and then ending up winning the decider by 26 points.

NSW/ACT had put together a terrific week to qualify for the grand final having beaten the Woomeras by 14 points on Monday and then beating the Thunder Devils by 20 points on Thursday in between their loss to South Australia on Tuesday.

Tait Mackrill kicked three goals for South Australia with Sarah Milham adding two while Ether Boles, Kyesha Christensen, Brianna Walling and Ashleigh Woodland all kicking one apiece.

Sarah Allan, Layla Fitzgibbon, Mackrill, Milham, Demi Sonneman and Woodland were all among the best players for South Australia in the grand final victory.

Sasa Barnes kicked two of NSW/ACT’s three goals for the game with Blaise Miller-Hill adding the other.

Philippa Clegg, Jodie Hicks, Barnes, Angela Prftis, Amber Allen and Teigan Hawke were all among the best players for NSW/ACT.

South Australia got off to a flying start to the grand final with Milham kicking two goals in the opening eight minutes, and then Mackrill adding two more before quarter-time.

NSW/ACT showed tremendous fighting spirit to get back into the contest and only trail by 20 points early in the third quarter following a goal to Miller-Hill, but South Australia then kicked four straight goals either side of three quarter-time to lock away the win.
