GIANTS Intra-Club and Sydney Fan Day

The football season swings into action later this week with the club’s intra-club match at Blacktown followed by the annual Sydney Fan Day in Baulkham Hills on February 27.

The GIANTS will take the field at Blacktown International Sportspark on Friday February 27 for their first hit-out of the season in an intra-club match that begins at 2pm.

The game will see a raft of new recruits take to the field, including Ryan Gridden, Joel Patfull, Jarrod Pickett, Paul Ahern, Jack Steele and Pat McKenna.

After injury ridden 2014 seasons, Jeremy Cameron, Lachie Whitfield, Stephen Coniglio and Nick Haynes will all take to the field in tomorrow’s game.

Vice- captain Tom Scully will miss the match with an ankle injury, along with Tim Mohr, Caleb Marchbank, Liam Sumner, Jeremy Finlayson, Lachie Plowman and Jon Patton.

They will then head to Charles McLaughlin Reserve in Baulkham Hills that evening for the Sydney Fan Day from 6pm-8pm.

Come and meet your favourite GIANTS, watch the 2015 jumper presentation and grab an autograph at the players signing session.

Test your skills on the GIANTS fan zone, AFL inflatables and jumping castle, enjoy the live entertainment from the GIANTS’ band Big Big Sound and grab a sausage sizzle from the BBQ.

The ACT Fan Day will be held next month on March 21, the day before the club’s final NAB Challenge match against the Swans at StarTrack Oval.

Sydney Swans Intra-Club match this Friday

The Sydney Swans will head out to Henson Park, Marrickville this Friday, February 27 to play their annual intra-club fixture.

Being held at the family-friendly time of 5.30pm, the match will be the perfect opportunity for supporters to come out and watch the team in action in their final hit-out before the NAB Challenge series.

The Swans will field a strong lineup, with Adam Goodes, Kurt Tippett, Josh Kennedy and Kieren Jack all included for the 4×20 minute quarter practice match.

Co-captain Jarrad McVeigh, Coleman medalist Lance Franklin and defender Ted Richards will all miss the game, but remain likely inclusions for the NAB Challenge series.

A strained calf during Monday’s training session will silence the co- captain until at least week two of the NAB Challenge series.

After an intense pre-season Franklin’s training load has been stripped back in more recent weeks and he is expected to feature in at least one of the NAB Challenge matches.

New faces will be found on the field, with all of the club’s new draftees – except Nic Newman – included for tomorrow evening’s match.

Entry is free for all fans. Local community team, the Newtown Swans, will be on hand to operate a BBQ and run a raffle to raise valuable funds for the junior club.

A clinic for local schools will be held prior to the fixture at 3.45pm while kids will also have an opportunity to have a go on the Big Kick and get some autographs from some of the Swans’ players.

Swans members, in particular the thousands living in Sydney’s inner west, can also take this opportunity to collect their member merchandise, provided they bring their 2015 redemption vouchers.

The co-captains were on opposing teams in last year’s fixture

If you’re yet to sign up for 2015, the Member Services team will be on hand to help you find the membership that will suit you best for the season ahead.

Swans fans are also encouraged to come to the annual Swans Fan Day this Sunday, March 1 at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park.

Gates open: 3.30pm. Match starts: 5.30pm.
