The JOSS Group & AFL Community Facility Grant Program was created to assist clubs with small projects with a minimum value of $20,000 and a maximum value of $80,000. Each club must contribute to the project by matching the grant dollar for dollar through cash or in-kind labour. Applicants were judged according to criteria which included the positive short term impact of the project and the immediate benefit to the club for the coming season.

AFL NSW/ACT General Manager, Tom Harley was delighted to see the continued success of the grant program.

“The AFL is committed to providing great infrastructure and improving quality environments  for our community clubs and volunteers,” he said.

“The program delivers short-term benefits  for 10 clubs across metropolitan & regional NSW/ACT who will finish the 2012 season with a better facility than what they started with. We wish the clubs the very best with their construction process and look forward to seeing the projects completed.”

The successful clubs are now responsible for completing their projects by no later than 31 July 2012. Representatives from both the Joss Group and AFL are hopeful to attend every project launch once completed later this year.

“There was a great diversity of projects amongst the numerous applicants who applied for the ten grants,” said AFL NSW/ACT Facilities Manager Anthony Brooks.

“All ten clubs demonstrated to us that a $10,000 grant will go a long way to provide an improved environment for their players, coaches, volunteers and spectators.”

“The AFL would like to thank all clubs for their applications and hope they continue to search for funding opportunities to improve their facilities.

“The Joss Group’s generous commitment to community AFL club is highly valued by AFL NSW/ACT, and we hope to continue our partnership for many years to come,” he said.
