After the Swans’ talks with Adelaide over the trading of Kurt Tippett were put on hold due to an AFL investigation, Sydney got in on the trading action late on deadline day.

Sydney Swans rookie Campbell Heath and selection 85 in the National Draft were traded to Port Adelaide in exchange for selection 72 which was swapped with Hawthorn, along with Matt Spangher, for pick 66.

And forward Trent Dennis-Lane was traded to St Kilda in the final hour of the AFL Trade Period in exchange for pick 47 in the AFL Draft.

Heath played two matches for the Swans in 2010, after joining the Club as a fourth round selection (pick 61 overall) in the 2009 National Draft. He was delisted at the end of 2011, but re-drafted as a rookie for the 2012 season.

Sydney Swans General Manager – Football, Dean Moore said he wished Campbell all the best at his new Club.

“We’re really pleased we have been able to improve our position late in the National Draft and we’re happy to see Campbell given an opportunity at a new Club,” he said.

“Despite some battles with injury, Campbell has shown great character and worked very hard in his time at the Club.”

Matt Spangher found a new home at Hawthorn with the Swans trading him and pick 72 in exchange for pick 66.

Spangher was drafted to the Swans with pick 73 in the 2010 AFL Draft and overcame injuries late in 2011 to play six games for the season, including both of the Swans finals, but didn’t make a senior appearance for the club in 2012.

Pick 72 was acquired from Port Adelaide in the exchange for Heath.

Trent Dennis-Lane became the third and final player to be traded from the Swans.

The 24-year-old  joined the Swans via pick 55 in the 2009 AFL Draft and played 19 games for 30 goals, including eight games for nine goals during the 2012 season.

Moore also confirmed following the conclusion of the trade period that senior listed players Brett Meredith and Nathan Gordon had both been delisted.

Meredith played 16 matches with the Swans after joining the Club via the 2007 National Draft, while Gordon – originally a NSW scholarship player – managed two games in his time with the Club, both in 2011.

“We thank both Brett and Nathan for their efforts during their time at the Swans and wish them both the very best for the future.”

The Swans’ original focus, Kurt Tippett, now finds himself in football no man’s land after he failed to find his way to the Sydney Swans by the end of Gillette AFL Trade Period on Friday.

During the trade period, the AFL advised Adelaide Crows FC and Tippett that any trade entered into in furtherance of the agreement under  investigation would not be accepted.

At this stage, subject to AFL approval, Tippett will be eligible to nominate for the National or Pre-Season Draft.

The Sydney Swans have now secured five picks within the first three rounds of the 2012 AFL Draft including picks 23, 45, 47, 66 and 67.
