Riverina and Farrer set for rep football
Both sides will travel to rural grounds for games tomorrow, with Riverina’s seniors set to take on Picolo South East and the best of Farrer tackling OKFNL.
It’s a landmark day for football in Southern NSW, with more than 70 teams from around Victoria taking part in the competition, with every team involved in representative football this weekend.
Both Farrer coach Gavin Hofert and Riverina mentor Matt Hard (pictured) are bullish about their respective side’s prospects.
“I think this is the strongest Farrer team we’ve assembled in several years, which is really exciting,” Hofert said.
“We are near full strength, and we have a side with a good mix of leg speed and big bodies, so we will give the game a real shake.
“The Riverina side has had four training sessions together now, and everyone is gelling really well, which is great considering the majority of the side are rep footy debutants,” Hard said.
“I last coached the team back in 2006, so it is a great honour to be at the helm again, and I know all the guys will do the region proud.”
