NSW/ACT win second game of week

NSW/ACT have secured a 20- point victory over the Thunder Devils to open Day 3 action at Bendigo Bank Stadium in Mandurah, Western Australia.

Despite the Thunder Devils kicking the first goal of the game after just three minutes, they only managed one more for the game and NSW/ACT kicked five of the last six to end recording the 5.6(36) to 2.4(16) win.

The win is the second for NSW/ACT of the Youth Girls National Championships this week with them having also beaten the Woomeras by five points on Monday, and then suffering a 77-point loss to Pool B favourites South Australia on Tuesday.

The Thunder Devils are a team made up of players representing both Tasmania and the Northern Territory, and have now lost two of their three clashes this week having gone down to South Australia by 70 points and beaten the Woomeras by five points on Tuesday.

In Thursday’s first clash of the day, NSW/ACT went on to win by 20 points with their goals coming courtesy of Jasmine Mandy, Blaise Miller-Hill, Ruby Stewart, Teigan Hawke and Haneen Zreika.

Angela Prftis, Blaire Miller-Hill, Shania Jones, Haneen Zreika, Jasmine Mandy and Chloe Arndt were all among the best players for NSW/ACT in the win.

Meanwhile, Zoe Knight and Georgia Hill combined for the goals for the Thunder Devils with Alana Coombes, Hayley Whyte, Michaela Long, Amy Chittick, Danielle Radford and Zabreena Manjerovic among their best players.

The Thunder Devils started the game brightly coming off the high of beating the Woomeras on Tuesday and kicked the first goal, but NSW/ACT then got going kicking three quick goals before quarter-time.

NSW/ACT then booted the only goal of the second quarter to lead by 17 points at half-time before the Thunder Devils mounted a comeback with the only goal of the third term to give themselves a chance trailing by 13 points at the last change.

However, NSW/ACT managed the only goal of the final quarter to end up winning by 20 points.
