New home for Blues on Central Coast
Excitement is growing on the Central Coast with the construction of the new The Entrace Bateau Bay Blues JAFC clubhouse nearing completion, with the official opening expected to take place in July.
The club, which has grown from 65 to almost 100 participants in the last three years, will enjoy the benefits of a three way funding partnership between Central Cost Softball Association, TEBBJAFC and AFL NSW/ACT. In addition to the construction of the clubhouse TEBBJAFC were also successful in securing a $40,000 State Government grant as part of the 2011 Community Building Partnership Grant Program to fit out the clubhouse.
AFL NSW/ACT Facilities Manager Anthony Brooks says the involvement of the State Member Chris Spence ensured the ideal outcome was reached.
“The Community Building Partnership Grant Program is integral to the growth of AFL at the grassroots level,” he said.
“With a permanent clubhouse structure the Blues will be able to expand their club and welcome new members.
“AFL participation on the Central Coast is booming and now the Blues have a home base for their players.”
This clubhouse complements the brand new five million dollar sporting complex built by Wyong Shire Council, which is midway through hosting its first full season of football. The outstanding new facility will be a centre of excellence for AFL on the Central Coast, and will also be used by the Black Diamond (BDAFL) for its finals series fixtures.
