Wollongong to host NEAFL clash
Wollongong will play host to some of NSW and the ACT’s finest AFL talent when the Sydney Swans Reserves take on Ainslie Football Club in Round 14 of the North East Australian Football League at North Dalton Park on Sunday July 6.
This is just the third time a NEAFL game has been played outside Sydney or Canberra, and will give Wollongong the chance to see some up and coming Sydney Swans stars in action.
The day is shaping up to be the biggest football event in the region this year, with four games of top quality Australian Rules football to be played. AFL Sydney’s Division 1 match between the Illawarra Lions and the UTS Bats playing curtain raiser to the NEAFL match, with AFL Sydney Women and AFL South Coast matches to follow.
AFL NSW/ACT General Manager Craig Bolton said the region will be able to see a showcase of the best local talent from the Sydney/Illawarra region at an elite local venue.
“We’re so excited at the opportunity to have a full day of elite football in Wollongong,” Bolton said.
“North Dalton Park is a great venue for an event like this, and I would encourage all footy fans to come along and see some great players in action across the day.”
Destination Wollongong General Manager Mark Sleigh said Wollongong’s strong sporting culture makes it a perfect fit for a NEAFL game.

4:45pm – AFL South Coast – Wollongong Bulldogs v Kiama Power
