St Paul’s High School, Merimbula Primary School and Kempsey West Primary were all treated to an exclusive tour of Sydney Swans HQ yesterday to celebrate their achievements in the Swans Cup and Paul Kelly Cup matches.

Students from the three schools received an Access All Areas pass to the club, which included visits into the gym, the locker rooms and the learning centre, as well as a walk across the SCG turf.

The team from St Paul’s High School, who travelled by bus for six hours to take part in the tour, also were treated to a special visit from Swans coach John Longmire, who answered the group’s questions about AFL in Sydney.

St Paul’s High School recently took out the Swans Cup, which is an under-16 competition for secondary schools located within the QBE Sydney Swans Academy talent zones.

The school, located in Port Macquarie, produced the first team from outside of Sydney to win the Swans Cup.

Merimbula Primary School and Kempsey West Primary School were both regional champions in their respective zones in the Paul Kelly Cup series.

The Paul Kelly Cup is the largest AFL primary school competition in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory and is targeted at Year 5 and 6 students.

The three school groups will take part in regional finals at Blacktown International Sportspark today.

St Paul’s High School is set to take on the winner of the Giants Cup, Mater Dei from Wagga Wagga, while the two primary school teams will be playing in the State Finals of the Paul Kelly Cup at the same venue.
