U13 & U14 Joss State Zone Trials
Future stars of the AFL will travel to Albury in their school holidays for the Under-13 and Under-14 Joss State Zone Trials being held at Albury Sports Ground from October 3 to 6.
The four-day event will see over 350 budding AFL players showcase their talents in front of experienced coaches and talent scouts.
With the Sydney Swans and GWS GIANTS looking for talented boys to be part of their Academies going forward, there will be plenty to play for in Albury.
Matches will commence on Monday and conclude on Thursday. Click here to view the teams and all talent news.
There will be all of the match preparations, training, recovery, match reviews and education sessions to best prepare players for life in the AFL.
AFL NSW/ACT Talent and Coaching Manager Darren Denneman said he’s looking forward to returning to Albury.
“Albury is a fantastic venue to host the event and we always look forward to playing at Albury Sports Ground,” Denneman said.
“This is a really unique event as we get to bring in the best footballers from all corners of the state/territory and map out from a young age what is required to make it in the AFL.
“All participants will train, play, recover and learn like AFL players whilst utilising unlimited access to coaches, staff and teammates.
“When they go back to their local clubs they’ll be a lot better for the experience and know what’s on the horizon and how they can fulfil their dreams of playing in the AFL.”
Denneman said he hoped that local football fans would turn out in numbers to see the stars of tomorrow in action.
“The community will see some first-rate boys competing at a high level,” he said.
“Without the support of communities like Albury, none of these players would have the opportunity to be part of the AFL NSW/ACT Talented Player Program and Club Academies.
“The trials provide a great picture for where AFL football is going to be in NSW and the ACT and the types of players that we’re going to produce in four or five years time.”
