The Riverina Anglican College (TRAC) can lay claim to having the best under 15 schoolboy team in the state after a dominant performance in Albury on Tuesday.

TRAC won the AFL NSW-ACT’s under 15 Giants Cup after proving far too good for fellow state finalists from Finley, Culcairn and Sydney.

TRAC belted De la Salle by 91 points early in the day at Albury Sportsground, before clinching the title with a 127-point thrashing of Finley High School.

This was after taking out the Currie Cup in Wagga earlier this year.

TRAC coach Mick Glanvill said it was a wonderful result for both the school and boys involved.

“It’s always a pretty big thing to win a state title,” Glanvill said.

“The boys did well. They had a good campaign and to finish on a positive was really good.”

Midfielders Matt Hamblin and Sam McCreade were two of TRAC’s better players throughout the day, as were defender Bayden Leary and wingman Ben Lewington.

Glanvill admitted the margins involved in TRAC’s wins caught him by surprise.

“Yeah look, it did, most certainly,” he said.

“The boys played some good footy. They moved the ball well, played the conditions well and executed it spot on.

“It was a really good team effort and reward for the effort put into the footy program at the school, which everyone is pleased with.”

Meantime, Finley High School won the Swan Shield with their two-point win over Billabong High School in the opening game of the day.
