The annual Sydney Swans Fan Day, which took place on Sunday March 10 and was presented by Volkswagen, gave fans unprecedented access to their favourite players and coaches, and allowed them the chance to have their photo taken with the 2012 Premiership Cup.

The popular event also served as the perfect platform for the club to unveil the entire 2013 Sydney Swans squad for the first time this year.

A range of fun activities was available for fans of all ages to enjoy, including the Volkswagen Interactive Fan Zone, the Volkswagen Club Song Car and the Volkswagen Putt Putt, along with the QBE Taronga Zoo Mobile and the Net Set Go, and Nova 969 Marquees.

Speaking to sydneyswans.com.au on the day, Volkswagen General Manager – Marketing Passenger Vehicles Jutta Friese said Volkswagen was pleased to partner with the Sydney Swans again for the annual event.

“Volkswagen is very proud to be the presenting partner for Fan Day and love celebrating our shared passion for this great team with Swans fans,” she said.

The day was especially exciting for one fan, Hannah Richards, who won the chance to be chauffeured to the event in a Volkswagen Multivan alongside Sydney Swans stars, Jude Bolton and Shane Mumford, and also received a special guided tour of the newly upgraded Swans’ facilities.

The impressive size of the crowd that attended the event is a testament to the ever increasing popularity of the reigning premiers.

“We’re up to about 30,000 members, and we might break the record this year which is an unbelievable thing for this footy club,” said Swans co-captain and Sydney-born Jarrad McVeigh, who thanked loyal fans in both Sydney and Melbourne for their unwavering support.

“It’s been a great turn out today, and hopefully we can see a lot of these people in Round 1 when we play in Sydney,” he said.
