Sydney Uni builds to NEAFL
After seven years of continuous service, five as President (2005-2009) and two as a very active Club Chairman (2010-2011), Jason McLennan has stepped down.
During the past two years, Jason has also represented SUANFC as the Club’s representative to the University of Sydney Sports Foundation (USSF), while in 2011 he was also the co-coach of the SUANFC Under-18 Colts.
On behalf of all at SUANFC, we would like to thank Jason for his years of service to the Club. We wish Jason, wife Veronica and their newly born son all the best as they start life as a family.
McLennan will be succeeded by former player, President and current Advisory Board member, Roger Down.
Down started his playing career in 1975, coached at the Club through the mid 1980s. He was Club President through the end of the same decade and played a significant role as SUANFC was first promoted to the SFL in 1988.
Down is a Life Member and his contribution to the administration of the Club has been recognised with the award of a Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness “Gold”. Most recently, Down has been an active member of the Advisory Board’s NEAFL Sub-Committee.
The Club is also excited to introduce and welcome John Walker to the SUANFC Advisory Board.
Walker, who has a son playing at SUANFC, joined the Board in the lead up to the Club’s 2012 entry to the NEAFL.
Walker brings high level AFL experience having played and administered Australian Football at the national level.
A former Collingwood player, Walker was later CEO of the West Australian Football League and then the inaugural Managing Director of the West Coast Eagles in 1986.
Walker will act as a NEAFL advisor and as a mentor to the current executive who are charged with project managing the Club’s entry to the NEAFL in 2012.
SUANFC welcomes both Roger and John to their new roles and in advance thanks each of the gentlemen for their service to the Club.
