Steven Mahar appointed regional manager of new ACT-Southern NSW region

Steven Mahar, regional manager of the ACT and South Coast, is now moving into a role which will see him have responsibility for both the ACT and Southern NSW regions.

Steven started with the AFL in 2011 as Talent Manager, ACT/South Coast before moving into the role as Regional Manager of the ACT/South Coast in 2012.

He was a four-time premiership player and Mulrooney Medallist at Belconnen in the AFL Canberra League.

The change comes about due to current Manager of Southern NSW, Jason McPherson, departing the AFL after 15 years.

Jason was drafted to the Sydney Swans in 1997 and after spending a few years on the Swans list he started with AFL NSW/ACT in January 2001 in a game development role. In 2010 he went home to Wagga Wagga and took up his role as the Manager of Southern NSW.

The restructure will more closely align the region with the GIANTS Academy, now having one central point overseeing all the Southern NSW and ACT talent zone.

We  would like to thank Jason for his time with the AFL  and wish him well in his future endeavours, and congratulate Steven on his appointment.
