School footy continues with Swans Cup

More than 240 High School students descended up on Macquarie University on Thursday for the Swans Cup – Southern Zone finals.

The fickle weather stayed clear for the competition and all games were played in good spirits in front of a crowd of parents and teachers.

The Swans Cup is a High School AFL competition in Sydney and the Illawarra with Under-14s, Under-16s and Opens age groups for both boys and girls.

Schools from Sydney Harbour, Sydney North, Sydney South and the Illawarra regions will compete in the Zone final this Thursday, June 20 at Macquarie University with the winners to compete in the State final next month.

The winners of the Swans Zone finals will face the winners of the GIANTS Zone finals which are being held in Wagga Wagga this week.

The Boys Competition features 18-a-side teams with the Girls Competition fielding 15 girls per side.

St Patrick’s Sutherland will field teams in four of the five age groups with Bulli High Academy fielding three sides.
