AFL NSW/ACT Under 17s side selected for Round One of Futures Series

The AFL NSW/ACT Rams Under 17s team for Round 1 of the 2018 Under 17s Futures Series has been named.

The Under 17s Futures Series will comprise of three games where the Rams will take on Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria over the coming months.

AFL NSW/ACT’s first match of the Series will be against Tasmania on Monday, June 11 at Blacktown International Sportspark at 12.30pm.

AFL NSW/ACT State Manager for Talent and Coaching, Darren Denneman says the 2018 Under 17s Futures Series will be an opportunity for Sydney Swans and GIANTS Academy members to show their wares to recruiters.

“The New South Wales and ACT Under 17s state program encompasses three games against Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria, and as such will be used to develop and expose players as nominated by their Club Academy, TAC Cup Club and state program staff,” says Denneman.

“We as the state body, are excited by the concept and trust that all players who earn a game will do their best at that time.”

It is envisaged that given the developmental nature of the three-game Series, that a large number of players will be given an opportunity to play for their state over the next few months.

AFL NSW/ACT will take on Queensland in Round 2 of the Series on Monday, July 9 on the Gold Coast, and will travel to Melbourne to play Vic country or Vic Metro on Sunday, August 12.
