Queensland dent NSW/ACT’s spirit
After running out of steam in their previous game, Queensland made sure they were back to full strength when they overran a plucky NSW/ACT on Day 2 of the Australian Youth Girls’ Championships in Adelaide.
Queensland burst out of the centre square to peg a quick opening goal through hard work by Megan Hunt. Clean ball handling and strong running was again the feature of their game for the full four quarters.
Despite strong overhead marking and numerous attempts to push into their forward line, NSW/ACT could not convert. As the game wore on the NSW/ACT girls fell prey to some excellent bumps from the opposition and at times friendly fire resulted in some injuries to key players.
Queensland’s Caitlin Collins played brilliantly, driving her team forward frequently and was well supported by Emily Bates and Megan Hunt.
