Positive signs for NSW/ACT U18 Rams ahead of TAC Cup challenge
The NSW/ACT U18 Rams look primed for a big 2016 after they ran away with an impressive 19-point win against Vic Country in a practice match at Ikon Park.
The Rams made a blistering start which laid the platform for a 15.6 (96) to 12.5 (77) victory.
Harry Perryman from Collingullie GP was one of the standouts kicking three goals while Ben Davis (UNSW), Connor Byrne (Wagga Tigers) and Connor Owen-Auburn (Pennant Hills) had strong games adding two goals apiece.
The squad had only been together for two days ahead of their opening match of the year making the performance even more encouraging.
The team’s attention now turns to their first game in the 2016 TAC Cup against Calder Cannons this Saturday April 16 at Rams Arena in Melbourne.
AFL NSW/ACT State Talent And Coaching Manager Darren Denneman was satisfied with the way the team handled their first hit-out.
“I was extremely happy with the way the team gelled in such a short space of time,” Mr Denneman said.
“The boys handled the trip away from home with ease and they were very focused heading into the game.
“This weekend’s fixture will be another big challenge as we play one of the most consistent teams in the TAC Cup.”
The side for Saturday’s TAC Cup match will be announced on the AFL NSW/ACT website tomorrow (Tuesday April 12).
The Rams second TAC Cup match is against Dandenong Stingrays on Saturday April 23 at Frankston Oval.
