Maddy, how did you get involved in AFL?

My family played AFL and I always thought it looked like a lot of fun. When they were starting a girls’ competition in my area I took the opportunity to get involved.

I play for the UNSW-Eastern Suburbs Stingrays in the Sydney AFL women’s competition.

Describe one of your biggest thrills playing AFL.

Last year I was drafted by the Western Bulldogs to take on the Melbourne Demons. The match was a curtain raiser for the men’s game at Etihad Stadium. That was pretty exciting.

Have you had any setbacks during your AFL journey?

I sustained a serious ankle injury prior to that particular game and I couldn’t play. The highs and lows of sport!

And which team do you barrack for in the AFL?

Sydney Swans!
