Picture perfect for Drummoyne
The picturesque Drummoyne Oval is nearing completion with one of the final pieces of the $7 million redevelopment put into place last week when brand new AFL posts were installed.
The new PILA group’s 12m by 9m fiberglass posts are the safest of its kind utilising a hinge-based system to easily install and remove.
Drummoyne Oval is quickly becoming the sporting epicentre of the suburb and surrounds with a number of community groups and schools making full use of the first-class facilities.
In the past 12 months the City of Canada Bay Council has built a new grandstand, change-rooms, canteen, club rooms and function area. The facility will be officially completed next year when an electronic scoreboard and 1500 lux broadcast level lighting is installed.
While the two clubs who call the ground home are striving for excellence off the field, they are equally succeeding on it.
Balmain Dockers Australian Football Club currently sit in equal first on the AFL Sydney Premier Division ladder while the reserves are second at the moment.
The Drummoyne Power juniors are also recording record participation levels with over 300 kids enjoying playing AFL every weekend.
