Queanbeyan Tigers young gun James Armstrong’s impressive rise through the NEAFL ranks has been recognised after the 18-year-old was named this week’s Eastern Conference Rising Star.
Armstrong in the son of Goulburn Swans legend Steve Armstrong but is fast making his own name in the code.
The teenager has played the past two NEAFL games for the Tigers after being named as an emergency for the side’s clash with the Sydney Swans in round nine.
Armstrong produced a notable performance in Queanbeyan’s last-start loss to Sydney University.
He has also been a member of the AFL/NSW development programs and was the runner-up as the Tigers Under-18s best and fairest tally last year despite missing a number of games.
This Sunday will see Queanbeyan take on the UWS GIANTS at Dairy Farmers Park from 11.45am.
The clash marks the first time the GIANTS have played at the ground since the inception of the NEAFL competition in 2011.
