NSW/ACT win at Youth Girls Nationals

NSW/ACT opened their account with a hard-fought win against the Woomeras in the opening game of the 2015 AFL Youth Girls National Championships in Mandurah, Western Australia today, Monday May 4.

The Pool B contest was an arm wrestle for three quarters before NSW/ACT pulled away in the final term to record a 6.8-44 to 4.6-30 win.

The Woomeras were first to hit the scoreboard in the first quarter with a great goal to Jessica Stassi before NSW/ACT responded with a goal to Blaise Miller-Hill, her first of two.

The teams then traded goals to be two majors apiece at quarter time. The Woomeras were held scoreless in the second term as NSW/ACT added another two goals to go into half time 15 points in front – a buffer that would prove to be enough for the win.

The Woomeras hit back in the third quarter and reduced the margin to one goal before NSW/ACT steadied to secure the win.
