The five-day event, being held in Adelaide, will bring together the best female AFL players from all over the country.
New South Wales will compete in division two along with the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
Coaching the side will be the 2010 Sydney Women’s AFL Coach of the Year, Tracy Kick, who led an undefeated Balmain side to last year’s grand final.
“The Blues bring to the National Championships a new blend of experience, youth and talent,” Kick said.
“With more preparation time and a team of 28 talented players travelling to Adelaide, the NSW team will be more competitive than ever and will strive for a finals win to gain promotion into Division 1.
“Thanks to the foresight of SWAFL development manager Lisa Roper, who established New South Wales’ inaugural Talented Player Program in 2010, and unprecedented support from AFL NSW/ACT.”
The NSW squad includes All Australian Marie Keating who attended the first AFL Women’s High Performance Academy in 2010.
There are also six All Australian representative players in the current team and 11 players who will wear the NSW Blues colours for the first time.
All of the news and results from the Women’s National Championships will be available at www.aflnswact.com.au.
