NSW Parliamentary Friends of AFL 2023
The third annual NSW Parliamentary Friends of AFL event was held on Wednesday, 23 August with great representation from all sides of politics in the NSW Parliament, the AFL, the Sydney Swans and the GIANTS including current AFL and AFLW players.
The AFL thanks the group’s Co-Chairs, Mr Stephen Bali MP and Mr Mark Coure MP, for convening the group and ensuring so many people could enjoy the stand-up lunch event at Parliament House.
Thanks also to the Hon Chris Minns MP, NSW Premier, and the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Mark Speakman MP for giving their time to attend and speaking so eloquently.
AFL speakers at the event included Brian Walsh, Executive General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Government and Communications, Tiffany Robertson, Head of AFL NSW/ACT, David Matthews, CEO of the GIANTS, and Tom Harley, CEO of the Sydney Swans.
Attendees were also thrilled to hear from NSW/ACT Volunteer of the Year, Carissa Embling of Port Macquarie Magpies, who told of how her club is ramping up inclusivity for women and people with disability in myriad ways.
