Northern NSW Community Football Update
Level 1 Coaching Course
Over 30 new coaches are on the path to becoming accredited having undertaken the courses held in Taree, Coffs Harbour & Tamworth. Coaches need to return completed workbooks and clubs will be invoiced shortly for their coach’s attendance.
Coaches Code of Conduct
There have been incidents this year where investigations have occurred into coaches actions in relation to the Code of Conduct. Leaders and Senior coaches at the club are asked to show leadership in this area. This weekend I heard a senior coach re-direct their U18 coach to a more positive approach which was encouraging to see. Code of Conduct can be downloaded at :

Women in Football
Whether it be Eleanor Wright (Port Mac) playing in the National Youth titles or Lyn Gow, Dawn Amos, Elaine Gillman , Julie McLachlan or dozens of others doing a power of work around your club, Women’s Round (June 29/30) provide the chance to acknowledge the role of women in our game.
Club games of Youth girls will be held between: Lower Clarence V Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie v Camden Haven.
Please send any photos and biographies of prominent women at your club so we can acknowledge them in the lead up.
Representative Football
It’s great to have Northern NSW leagues coming together for a huge day of representative footy. Saturday 18 May will see Wayne Richards Park, Port Macquarie come alive with: U13 & U15 Nth Coast v Mid North Coast, U18 Nth Coast v Mid North Coast, Seniors TAFL v AFL North Coast
Talented Player Pathway
AFL NSW/ACT Talent Series has unearthed some great talent with U13 & U15 games held at Port Macquarie (April) & Coffs Harbour (May). The games return to Port Macquarie on Wednesday June 12.
Congratulations also to Tom Dickson, U18 (Port Mac) & Lachy Jacobs, U16 (North Coffs) who have recently represented the Sydney Swans Academy vs GWS Giants.

League Administration Committees
More voices and volunteers are always appreciated on League Committees. It was great to see Sawtell Juniors and North Coffs Juniors add representatives to AFL North Coast Juniors last week. There’s often very vocal suggestions from clubs but by volunteering you assist make these ideas happen & become part of the solution.
A reminder that in the three AFL North Coast Leagues, Jason Sincock is employed as Operations Manager to carry out the decisions of the Committees and is not a voting member of the committees.
AFL NSW / ACT Development
Thanks to those clubs attending Clinics & Gala Days held by Colin, Matt & Rachel. There has been great participation presenting an opportunity to invite new and interested kids to our game.
From a long term development point of view, some 2013 highlights of growth see:
– Grafton Tigers now fielding U11, U13 & U15 sides
– Port Macquarie & Camden Haven with strong U18 sides of players who have come through school and junior footy
– A Club Auskick Centre at Taree of over 70 participants.
– U15 teams in Tamworth, Armidale & Inverell getting the ball rolling with U15 Gala days and competition.
– North Coast Independent & Christian Schools holding inter-school Gala days
Half Time Auskick
Taree, Tamworth & Port Macquarie Auskick Centres recently had the thrill of running onto the SCG at ½ time in the Sydney Swans vs Brisbane Lions Game.
We’ll have another 94 Auskickers play at ½ time of the Gold Coast vs Collingwood game at Metricon Stadium in Late July.
