2017 AFL Multicultural Festival for everyone

The 2017 AFL Multicultural Festival presented by Australia Post and supported by Multicultural NSW takes place this Saturday at Cathy Freeman Park (Sydney Olympic Park).

Starting at 12pm and running until 6pm, the free Festival will run before, during and after the GWS GIANTS match against Fremantle just next door at Spotless Stadium at 2.10pm.

Showcasing food, dance, song, and fun for the whole family, this year’s Festival celebrates ‘Many Cultures, One Game’.

With performances from internationally acclaimed hip hop artist and AFL Multicultural Ambassador, L-Fresh the Lion and the hit musical Miss Saigon, the festival will bring with it entertainment from across the world.

Food stalls will also take attendees around the globe with local Sydney businesses selling food from paella to papadums, to help feed the masses before and after the big game.

Dancekool and Rasika Dance Company will join performers from Polynesia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Middle East, China and many other countries to beat the drum of the multicultural spirit. Plenty of carnival rides will also keep the kids busy.

Yoga, cultural workshops, poetry, Tai Chi, and henna tattoo artist, Amani will be on hand to for those looking to head into the game calm and centred.

Be sure to check out the Sportszone too, where multicultural teams will play off in AFL 9s and where Netball NSW, Basketball NSW, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and more, will be playing games.

Join in on all the excitement as diverse communities come together to create a cultural whirlwind like you have never seen before.
