Kick start for youngsters in Camden

Starting Sunday (June 30), the club is running an 8-week program designed to put a smile on young faces, create plenty of laughter, whilst throwing in a few footballs along the way.
New Auskick co-ordinator, Paul Mance, explains that the emphasis will be on fun activities designed to develop the children’s fitness, co-ordination, agility and ball skills.
“This has to be one of the cheapest and most enjoyable ways to get your children involved in a great sport,” Mance said.
“We have designed the program for 4 to 12 years old and will only charge a one-off $20 fee, there are no ongoing weekly fees and no uniforms to purchase.
“Besides that, we want kids of all sizes, gender and skill level to feel welcome to come along and really have a lot of fun.”
The program will run until September 1 as there is no Auskick on July 7 (it is the middle weekend of school holidays).
Each session will run from 9.30am until 11am and parents are most welcome to get in and have a go with their kids.
“We absolutely want parents to be as involved as they want to be,” Mance said.
“We find that many of them will be happy to get out and have a kick and learn a few skills themselves – but the program will be tailored around many old favourite schoolyard games which can’t help but bring out the inner-child in everyone.
“We don’t mind if they want to use the hour to read the paper, have a coffee or throw the joggers on and get involved – as long as everyone is having fun we’ll be happy.
Mance has also been involved with the Senior Camden Haven Bombers as an assistant coach this year and says it is a great club to be involved with.
“There is plenty of spirit, passion and good sportsmanship in the club and we want to introduce a new generation of families to the Bomberland brand which has been in operation for seven years in the Camden Haven,” Mance said.
You can register your 4 to 12 year old in the Auskick program by coming along to Laurieton Oval this Sunday (or any Sunday thereafter) at 9.30am.
