Jindera local Jessica Maloney joins Team NAB AFL Auskick

Team NAB AFL Auskick has welcomed its eighth recruit of the year, with nine-year-old Geelong supporter Jessica Maloney from Jindera Auskick Centre in New South Wales joining the team.

The 2024 Team NAB AFL Auskick coaches Nick Daicos and Katie Brennan encourage all registered Auskickers to enter via submitting a video online for a chance to join the team. They are on the lookout for NAB Auskickers who show teamwork, dedication, and passion!

Selected Auskickers will have the opportunity to invite an Auskick teammate of their choice to join them for a remarkable experience, attending an AFL Grand Final.

Eleven lucky winners will be announced during the Seven Network’s AFL match broadcast, with Jessica being the eighth Auskicker to join the team accompanied by her chosen nominee – friend, Grace Lee.

Jessica and Grace will join their fellow Team NAB AFL Auskick recruits at the MCG in Melbourne for a once-in-a-lifetime Grand Final experience, where they take centre stage and present the winning grand final team with their premiership medallions.

Although Jessica was signed up as a Richmond member by her dad when she was born, it turns out she was destined to be a Geelong supporter like her mum. As soon as she was old enough to make her own decision, it was out with the yellow and black and in with the blue and white hoops. Jessica loves the Cats so much she’s always wearing the club merchandise and asks for new Geelong gear each Christmas.

When the young recruit from Jindera Public School isn’t kicking a footy or watching the Cats play, she loves to bake and make crafts. Thanks to her nan, Jessica is also a junior Country Women’s Association (CWA) member and has won many prizes in the cooking and handicraft divisions, even beating some senior competitors!

Jessica’s chosen recruit, 11-year-old Grace, thrives on challenges and jumped into Auskick to not only have fun with her friends but to master her footy skills, particularly nailing those kicks on the run. A passionate Essendon supporter whose favourite player is captain, Zach Merrett, Grace brings her netball agility to the field, dominating the midfield and shines in her speciality position as ruck.

As part of being selected as a Team NAB AFL Auskick recruit, Jessica has the chance to be crowned the 2024 NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year which will be announced during Toyota AFL Grand Final Week.

The lucky NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year will receive a remarkable $5,000 prize thanks to NAB and have the privilege of being mentored by an AFL and AFLW player throughout 2025.
