Holland’s playing career at Hawthorn saw him appear in 179 games at the top level, winning a club champion award and vice-captaining the Hawks from 1999-2003.
It was Holland’s off-field professional career that saw him relocate to Canberra, where he joined the Australian Sports Commission in a high level administration position.
Previously, Holland obtained a Science and Law degree and was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2007.
The 39-year-old has also held positions within the AFL and VFL administration systems after calling time on a decorated playing career, which included the honour of vice-captaining his home state of South Australia.
Ainslie Club Coach Chris Rourke said the club was looking forward to Holland’s input at the club
“Obviously we are excited to have someone with Nick’s abilities and experience on board here at Ainslie; he is a very smart man with a load of practical experience, and has a great talent to be able to share that knowledge.
“It is a great boost for all players at the Club with pre-season training starting next Tuesday.”
Holland will have a hands-on role at Ainslie, joining Rourke for training sessions and being involved in the match day panel
“He has a great range of skills to offer, the different voice, new drills and just his presence will be a bonus.”
Ainslie General Manager John Smith said his appointment is a big positive for the Tri Colours
“It is a tremendous opportunity for Ainslie, for us to be able to have Nick pass on his knowledge and experience to our playing group. He is a quality person with a high level of respect for his achievements in both our game and his professional career; it’s just great to have him on board.”
Holland will join the playing group and coaching panel on Tuesday 19th November for the commencement of pre-season training at Ainslie Oval, a prospect he’s enthused by.
“It is great to be on the team at Ainslie, they’ve shown in my short time here in the ACT that they mean business in 2014 and I’m looking forward to working with Chris and the players in preparation for a big season.”
