GIANTS make a big footprint on the west
A rousing chant of “Go GIANTS” from the crowd of fans welcomed the GWS players to Cook Park in St Marys last week, where they made a visit to the young players of the area.
More than 50 kids turned out to see their local heroes, from Auskickers right through to under-12 players.
Callan Ward, Tim Segrave, Andrew Phillips were lucky enough to help out with the next generation of GIANTS, and had a huge crowd of eager parents watching from the sidelines.
Older players from the club weren’t left out, with many coming over to watch their heroes after they had finished their training session.
Laure Gatt from the St Clair Crows was extremely pleased with the visit from the AFL newcomers.
“Once again the AFL have shown what a great sport we belong too, and have given a once in a lifetime opportunity to these kids, who will no doubt have gone to school today to tell their friends all about it,” she said.
“The AFL is definitely making an impression on Western Sydney, and I hope the momentum keeps growing.”
The entire GIANTS playing list was made available for club visits in the western Sydney region last week to participate in club training and meet the families and volunteers that help make grassroots football possible each week.
