O’hAilpin joined local Australia Post employees at the Sydney West Letters Facility to celebrate the milestone round with staff, many of whom have a multicultural background.
“This is a really important round to recognise as a nation and it’s great to have the support of Australia Post and the AFL to highlight the contribution that multiculturalism has made to Australian Rules Football,” said O’hAilpin.
“With the help of the AFL, we’re really excited to be delivering more than 5,000 tickets to AFL football matches this weekend so that countless Australia Post staff can enjoy a game of footy with their family – many for the first time.”
Australia Post MD & CEO Ahmed Fahour acknowledged the strong multicultural ties that Australia Post and the AFL share.
“As an organisation employing more than 33,000 people from over 130 nations, we’re passionate about bringing together communities from different backgrounds right across the country,” said Mr Fahour.
“The AFL has a host of multicultural stars from a variety of teams that provide excitement and entertainment each week, not only for our staff, but for Australians everywhere.”
Almost a quarter of Australia Post’s workforce is from non-English speaking backgrounds, with over 60 different languages spoken.
Australia Post is the official Community Inclusion Partner of the AFL and delivers a number of grass roots activities and community based programs including the Australia Post AFL Community Camps, the Australia Post Multicultural Schools Cup and the Australia Post AFL LetterLink Program.
