Finish with the Right Stuff partnership continues

AFL NSW/ACT has joined forces with NSW Health to bring the Finish with the Right Stuff program to clubs and associations across the state. The program encourages kids to choose healthy foods and drink water after footy matches and training.

GWS GIANTS star and Sydney local, Erin McKinnon is once again on board as a Finish with the Right Stuff Ambassador, making it her second year with the program.

“I think the Finish with the Right Stuff Campaign is so important for kids, not just because it ensures they are able to maximise their performance, but it also teaches them the lifelong skill of how to make healthy food choices,” said McKinnon.

The Finish with the Right Stuff program is part of the NSW Government’s plan for improving the general health and wellbeing of children, specifically after playing sport.

“Finish with the Right Stuff program gave our committee the confidence to implement changes that we all knew were beneficial for the kids playing our sport,” said Tracy Jedrzejewski, President of Wollondilly Redbacks Junior AFC.

“It was also fun talking to the kids and finding out what they really wanted to see as food in the canteen. Some were all about the lollies, but so many of them said to bring food that they could eat to give them the best energy to play the best for the games.

“They were then cheeky and said only sell it to us and not the opposition teams to give them an advantage!”

To assist them in making sure their players are running on the right stuff, NSW Health has partnered with Good Sports to work with clubs to achieve positive, safe and healthy spaces for players, members and volunteers.

Clubs receive a tool kit, resources and support to help reinforce the Finish with the Right Stuff message to their players and sporting community.

“NSW Health’s partnership with Good Sports Healthy Eating to deliver Finish with the Right Stuff, as part of the Premier’s priority to reduce childhood obesity, has supported over 300 junior community sports clubs across NSW to make water and healthier food choices available for children and club patrons,” said Dr Mitchell, Director, Centre for Population Health.
