CHAMPIONSHIPS: Eastern Allies wrap up tour

The Eastern Allies have gone down to Vic Metro in their final match of the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s Under-18 Championships.

It was a tough day for the Allies coming up against the now-undefeated Victorian side, and ultimately losing out by 72 points.

Metro set themselves up for the day in the first quarter, kicking four unanswered goals with another four going astray of the middle.

The day wouldn’t get any better for the Allies, managing to score just three behinds for the remainder of the game.

Despite the losses across the week, Eastern Allies Coach Steve Mahar said he was extremely proud of their efforts from the first game to the last.

“They are such a fantastic bunch of young women and they gelled exceptionally well off-field,” said Mahar.

“They all developed their individual games over the course of the week and should be extremely proud of their on field performance.

“Their endeavor and effort was excellent, and the challenge will be fine tuning our execution from here.

“They were very tough at the contest and will be sore after a taxing three games.”

Tasmania’s Mia King took out the Allies MVP Award after a stellar Championships.
