Cunningham out with injury

It might be difficult to find any negatives from a 196-point victory, but for the Swans reserves, the loss of small forward Harry Cunningham through injury soured last Sunday’s win in the NEAFL.
The 19-year-old’s knee buckled from under him after landing awkwardly in the second quarter of the clash with Tuggeranong in Canberra, hampering his promising start to the season.
Sydney Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron said scans had confirmed a medial tear in his left knee, an injury which normally takes at least a month to heal.
“He landed pretty awkwardly in a marking contest and his knee buckled under him and got caught underneath him and he actually gave his medial ligament a good tearing,” Cameron told SwansTV.
“They usually take around four to six weeks, but we’ll see how he responds.
“Some of them can come up a bit quicker than others but we’ll know more as the next couple of days go on.
“He’s actually improved quite a bit from yesterday to today, but at this stage he’s probably out for a month.”
The Turvey Park junior was picked up by the Swans in the 2012 rookie draft, and made his debut in last season’s Round 1 encounter with the GWS GIANTS.
