Cunningham back in action
By James Matthey
Swans young gun Harry Cunningham emerged unscathed from his first outing in over six weeks after recovering from a knee injury.
The small forward suffered a partially torn medial ligament in his left knee during the Swans reserves’ Round 4 encounter with Tuggeranong.
Sydney Swans physiotherapist, Matt Cameron, said the 19-year-old’s recovery had been going smoothly, recently returning to skills training.
“He hurt his medial ligament on his knee and he’s a bit like Rhyce (Shaw) in that he’s been doing some skills training since late last week.”
The Turvey Park junior played three quarters of the top-of-the-table encounter, starting at half-back before moving into the midfield.
Cunningham didn’t appear to have lost any of his trademark speed, providing good service to teammate Jed Lamb throughout the 140 – 49 win.
The best talent the NEAFL has to offer will be on show when the Eastern Conference representative side takes on Tasmania in a curtain raiser to the GWS GIANTS’ clash with Geelong at Skoda Stadium on Saturday June 8.
