Cadbury Half Time AFL 9s kicks off

The event, which was coordinated by the AFL Canberra staff and AFL NSW/ACT AFL 9s Program Manager Emma Collyer, saw teams consisting of players from across the ACT and NSW South Coast compete.
A team from Pambula, a small town on NSW’s Sapphire Coast, had players representing each of the 14 teams that play in the local competition, whilst another group of players represented National Directional Drilling, a sponsor of the local Canberra AFL 9s teams.
The Cadbury All Stars and Cadbury Giants also participated, with both teams comprised of players from the Canberra AFL 9s competition, as well as women’s AFL representative players.
By the end of half time, the event was hailed as a huge success, with the teams enjoying a fantastic experience of playing the game they love on the big stage of the AFL.
Cadbury AFL 9s is the social version of AFL, and is a fast and free-flowing format that involves nine players on each team playing on a smaller field. It’s mixed ‘touch football’ with no tackling or bumping, making it suitable for people of any age or skill level.
Since this version of the game emerged, giving AFL 9s teams the chance to play during half time of AFL matches has provided the perfect way to promote the game to fans and the wider community, and showcase just what AFL 9s is all about.
