Blockbusters galore for GIANTS and Swans

The harbour city will host several mouth-watering matches in 2014, highlighted by the opening round clash between the Swans and GIANTS.
The official AFL fixture was released at 9:30 this morning, with highlights aplenty for Sydney footy fans.
The Swans will play 12 matches in Sydney in 2014, with eight games at the newly redeveloped Sydney Cricket Ground, three at ANZ Stadium, and one at Sydney Showgrounds, while the GIANTS will play eight games at GIANTS Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park, as well as four fixtures in Canberra – at Star Track Oval.
The third instalment of the ‘Battle of the Bridge’ will be played on GWS turf for the first time, the match scheduled for twilight on March 15 at the just-named GIANTS Stadium, before the cross-town rivals meet again in Round 15 in a night fixture at the SCG.
The Swans will host an unprecedented Thursday night match at the SCG against Geelong to launch the AFL’s Indigenous Round, as well as four Friday night games; two of which will be in Sydney.
GWS open its season with only two games against last year’s top six teams over the first 13 rounds, and with two games against both the Bulldogs and Demons, Leon Cameron’s men are well placed to improve on last year’s one win.
All Swans and GIANTS games will also be broadcast live on 7mate.
