Albury Multicultural Program a success
The first night of last week’s Multicultural Program in Albury was a resounding success with 73 children from eight Primary Schools and High Schools across Albury-Wodonga learning the basics of AFL football.
The night included a basic skills clinic on handball and kicking techniques with a focus on the children, girls and boys aged from 5-17, from different schools and groups making new friends and building trust with each other.
The children from Bhutanese, Nepalese, Indian and African backgrounds were visited by GWS GIANTS Jacob Townsend, Anthony Miles, Sam Schultz and Mark Whiley, who were in the area as part of their Community Camps
Children that attend all sessions will be invited on a day trip to Canberra to watch the GWS GIANTS take on the Western Bulldogs at Manuka Oval in Canberra in July.
These children will also receive AFL Multicultural Program hoodies and children who attend other sessions will receive Australia Post Auskick-style Sherrin football at the completion of the program.
Children will also receive a PCYC membership for 12 months, which allows use of indoor basketball, indoor soccer, gym, and netball facilities.
