AFL Sydney to turn pink for a cause

By Jack McAnespie

‘Pink Sock Round’ is being held by the AFL Sydney to help raise awareness and money for the McGrath Foundation.

The ‘Pink Sock Round’ coincidently coincides with the Campbelltown Monarch Blues’ Breast Cancer awareness fundraiser, which will also be held on Saturday.

Campbelltown’s fundraiser will see Sydney University and themselves wear one-off pink jumpers, which will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the match to help raise funds for breast cancer research and support.

Football Operations Manager for AFL Sydney, Matthew Graham says he is looking forward to the upcoming round, commenting that it was a monumental day for AFL Sydney in supporting such a worthy cause.

“I’m obviously thankful to those clubs involved for their support of a great cause,” said Graham.

“Hopefully it will become a bigger event on the AFL Sydney calendar in years to come.”
